This is the age-old battle. Designer clothes versus high street clothes. Kate Middleton has hoped on the high street bandwagon, whilst including some designer pieces.
Normally when I go shopping I always opt for high street clothes. I do this because one I can’t actually afford designer clothes and two sometimes I think high street clothes are more stylish and actually nicer.
Why? Because you can really see the quality of them and they last. They is no point going to Primark and buying a cheap pair as they stretch and you can’t buy different lengths. I am quite short so I need a shorter leg and Primark just doesn’t cater for that!
The more style savvy of my regular readers here will probably be aware that we are in the midst of the global fashion week with London taking it’s place imminently. The regular event sees a world class showcase of up coming and long established designers taking to the catwalks to display their latest designs for the upcoming seasons. In short, dictating how we will all be dressing in the next six months. Fantastic if like me you are like a walking talking clothes horse. What’s great is that there are usually a few special one of sales of the items straight off the catwalk. If you keep an ear to the ground and jump on it at the last minute you never know, you could find yourself walking away with some truly iconic pieces of fashion. Might want to sort out a same day loans online first.Image: truthabout
I am loving this right now, seriously. I mean look how cool and modern and minimalistic chic the whole thing simply drips off and guess what? It is made from cardboard. Freaking cardboard. I don’t think that you can get much greener than that can you? The desk is made out of solid, reinforced cardboard which makes it the greatest desk talking point of the year. Not only will it grab admiring glances from people quicker than their retinas can even recognise things but once that has died down you get to hit them with the cardboard info. It’s just too cool. Snapping one of these up right away for my new office. Just need to be careful not to spill and drinks. Image:Esquire
It seems that designers and fashionistas turning to film to broadcast their creativity is a tried and tested and often disappointingly self absorbed blot on the creative checklist. Right back from Warhol revolutionizing the idea, although often slammed and booed at the time we have seen plenty of the arty types delve into this mess hall since.
Hedi Slimane's recent effort though is thankfully, carefully and tastefully put together to give the oddly surreal and eccentricity beautiful celluloid moment that we should hasten to expect.
Another string to the bow of one of fashion's best and most groundbreaking.
Birch Studio are relatively young in their design careers, with their owners and pioneers having been out of uni, little under 2 years. This however is not something to be dismayed by as this a studio from two designers who seriously know their chops. There still fresh presence on the design scene has enabled them to come at projects without the repetitive and often time dismissive approach by older designers and they have quickly built up an impressive list of clients for both their professionalism and highly personable and adaptive pricing scheme. One’s to watch in the design world so take heed quickly. www.birchstudio.co.uk Image: birch
